Sun West School Division
Land Acknowledgement

The Sun West School Division acknowledges that we are on Treaty 6 and Treaty 4 territories. This land that we share has long been home to the Cree, Saulteaux, Nakoda, Lakota, Dakota Peoples and the Metis.

We who live on, learn from and care for this land and water recognize the ancestors who have walked before us as well as the generations to come. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation to reaffirm our relationship to one another.

We are committed to learning together.

SUCCESS FOR ALL

Outlook Elementary Students recently travelled to local farms where they learned about the agricultural industry and farm safety.

LEARNING TOGETHER

In partnership with their local library, Dinsmore Composite School hosted the mahikkanak Dance Troupe on March 7. They performed a number of powwow dances as well as providing Indigenous stories and teachings to Dinsmore students and community members

ACHIEVEMENT

The Loreburn Central School Drama Club competed in the Regional Drama Festival in Warman in April. Part of the Festival included a fantastic dance with the theme “Raid your Drama Closet.” Students fun all kinds of fun things to wear and bring to the dance!

ENGAGEMENT

“Spread Your Wings with Kindness: Lift Others as You Fly” was the theme of the International Day of Pink this April. To recognize this day, Kyle Composite students wrote kind messages on little pink shirts and hung them on large pink wings. It was a great visual reminder that success for all can be achieved if we lift each other up!

WELL-BEING

Badminton tournaments abounded in March and April including Junior Intersectional Playoffs, where these Loreburn Central School and Davidson School athletes impressed everyone with the sportsmanship and respect they showed each on other on and off the court.
