Sun West Artwork Contest

Amazing Artwork Selected For Sun West School Division Office

Over 200 students entered the Sun West School Division Student Artwork Contest and the winners have been announced! Soon their awesome artwork will be on display in the Division Office in Rosetown.

The Student Artwork Contest was held between September 15 and December 2, 2022. The art that was entered needed to be hand-drawn and reflect the communities, landscapes, rural living, heritage, education and natural landmarks within Sun West. “We wanted art that reflected both our students’ creativity and talent as well as being representative of who we are in Sun West School Division,” explained Sun West School Division Director of Education Vicki Moore.

An initial selection of finalists was made from all the entries with those selected compiled into a display, so, members of the Sun West School Division Board of Education and Division Office staff could view the finalists and vote on who they thought was best in each category. The categories were Kindergarten to Grade 3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-9.

“We were very pleased with the quality of the entries overall,” stated Director Moore, “but the talent displayed in the finalists made our choices very difficult! Our students have so much talent and skill!”

The art of the first and second place winners in each category will be displayed on canvas in the Division Office and the Sun West School Division Board of Education will be inviting them to a ceremony when the art is hung as well as holding a luncheon in their honour. Each will also receive a certificate of recognition and a gift certificate.
