So many different factors contribute to the the achievements of Sun West students. The video above highlights some of the ways that Sun West lives up to its vision statement of "Success for All!"

Twenty-first Century Skills encompass a broad range of abilities beyond traditional academic subjects, including communication and collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and innovation, as well as effective work habits.

The Sun West Board of Education developed Board Policy 18: 21st Century Competencies to emphasize their importance in preparing students for future careers and life beyond the classroom.

Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to infuse these skills into lessons, assisting students in developing the competencies needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

Student growth in these 21st Century Skills is evaluated on student report cards under Factors Affecting Student Achievement (FASA). These include four broad categories:

  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving
  • Creativity and Innovation
  • Habits for Success
