MARCH 2025 BOARD HIGHLIGHTS

On March 25, the Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting. Highlights included:

Trustees reviewed progress in developing the 2025-26 School Division draft Budget.

Possible implications of Education funding in the recent Provincial Budget were discussed.

The Colony Schools Report was given, which indicated Sun West continues to enjoy a positive relationship with Hutterian schools.

The2025-26 Sun West School Year Calendar was approved and subsequently has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

ADVOCACY COMMITTEE MEETING

The Board of Education has a number of standing committees including Facilities, Transportation, Audit, and Technology. One Committee that met in April was the Advocacy Committee, which is responsible for developing a plan to advocate for education needs to government and other stakeholders. SUPPORTING STUDENT LEADERSHIP

A number of Trustees attended the Annual Sun West Student Leadership Conference in Loreburn on April 11. Board Vice-Chair Cathy Morrow, outlined the Board’s ongoing support for student leadership in her address to the students.
