Elrose Composite School is getting a new Principal this fall. Angela Sparks, who has been Vice-Principal at Biggar Central School 2000 since the fall of 2021, takes over in Elrose this fall.
“Angela Sparks is an excellent leadership choice for Elrose Composite School,” stated Vicki Moore, Sun West Director of Education. “She brings much expertise, enthusiasm and energy to all she does and will continue to foster the inclusive and dynamic learning environment at ECS."
Ms. Sparks holds a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education from the University of Regina and a Bachelor of Arts from Ambrose University in Calgary. She received both degrees with distinction and is completed Master’s degree in Curriculum Studies from the University of Saskatchewan in 2023. She has worked at a number of schools in Western Canada including in Calgary, Vernon, Regina, Saskatoon and Kenaston. She has learned to teach students in a wide variety of circumstances and has a strong grasp of the principles of personalized learning. She became the principal of Harris-Tessier Central School in 2018 and moved on to be Vice-Principal at Biggar Central School 2000 in 2021.
Ms. Sparks has actively pursued professional development opportunities and has demonstrated the ability to work in cooperation and collaborate with staff, senior management, professional teams and School Community Councils. Among her projects at BCS2000 were a student exchanges through Experiences Canada and activities through the Canadian Playful Schools Network.
Ms. Sparks is approaching her new position with excitement. She said: “I am a big proponent of experiential and land-based learning from PreK to Grade 12 and I am looking forward to getting to know and working alongside the staff, students, and families of Elrose.”
