On October 28, Indigenous Perspectives Consultants Brie Phillips and Learning Consultant Donna Locke visited Rossville School in Coleville, where they provided a workshop to students and staff about the meaning and significance of the tipi in some First Nations cultures. Sun West Board of Education Trustee and Vice-Chair Michelle Whitfield also attended the workshop.
In the workshop, Ms. Phillips and Ms. Locke explained the meaning of each tipi pole and helped the students raise a tipi using the tipi kit provided by the school division. Schools interested in this workshop at their school should contact Ms. Phillips at brie.phillips@sunwestsd.ca
