If You are Tired, Just Run Faster

West-Central Athlete Profile – Robyn Millsap

Robyn Millsap, a Grade 11 student at Kenaston School, has been playing multiple sports since she was in Grade 7. She is currently playing basketball, but has also participated in volleyball, cross country, track, and is starting badminton this year.

One of Robyn’s coaches, Mr. Dan Weber, commented: “Robyn is fantastic example of the importance school sports play in our students’ lives. Not only does Robyn take part in sports programs throughout the year, staying active and making new friends across the province, she also, gives back to the school as well helping coach our Junior Basketball programs.”

Robyn identifies Kenaston teams, she was a part of, winning junior basketball and volleyball districts in the 2022-23 season as well as going to Hoopla in 2023, and volleyball provincials in 2024, as highlights (so far)in her athletic career.  Robyn has also competed in track and field and cross-country provincials every year since she was in Grade 9.

This year Robyn has shown her willingness to share her knowledge of sports by also stepping into a coaching role for Kenaston junior boys and girls teams.

“School sports are very important to me,” explained Robyn, “because they take my mind away from the stress of school and I get more time building relationships around the school and trying to be a leader.”

Robyn says her future dreams including playing basketball at a post-secondary institution like the University of Saskatchewan.

Perhaps best capturing Robyn’s dynamic approach to sports are  two of her favourite sports quotes: "Believe in yourself because you are a leader on every team you're on and other players look up to you" and "If you're ever tired, just run faster."
